Tūrangi Park was packed with people over the past couple of days with generations of descendants coming together to celebrate their Tūwharetoa heritage.
Over 3000 descendants had attended, but some of the organisers say it's not that easy to organise an occasion this big.
Alongside the sporting events, a new aspect of this occasion was introduced this year, with the marae hosting Māori idol for some of the folks that didn’t have much experience in the sporting field.
Singers had the opportunity to showcase their talents through the microphone.
There is no doubt that in years to come, the number of people who turn up to this significant event will be greater.
