Toby Curtis receives top New Year Honour

The New Year Honours 2014 has seen a prominent Te Arawa figure recognised for his efforts, Toby Curtis has been awarded a Knighthood for his contribution to Māori education.

As well as his educational achievments Sir Curtis has also spent years working tirelessly for his Iwi and community, he believes while this is a great honour there is still a lot of work ahead for him.

On the eve of 2014 the Te Kāea feature follows our reporter Mere McLean who spoke to Sir Curtis in his hometown of Rotorua about his future goals for Māori education and how he feels about being honoured for his efforts to date.
