Te Matatini Regional Kapa Haka dates for 2016

Te Matatini Society Incorporated has updated their list of dates for the 2016 Regional Kapa Haka competitions.  

Qualifiers from these events will advance to the National Te Matatini Festival to be hosted by Ngāti Kahungunu in the Hawke's Bay in 2017.

"Te Matatini ki Heretaunga" will run from February 22 -26 and held at the Hawke's Bay Sports Park in Hastings.

13 rohe in total will be sending their top groups through to the nationals.  

Dates of interest during the regional events include; the three-day Kahungunu festival from February 5-7 which will no doubt include Waitangi Day celebrations.

Mataatua and Tainui rohe are both holding their festivals on April 16.

Te Whenua Moemoeā (Australia) will be holding their event in Perth over two days on April 1-2, and Tāmaki Makaurau is taking on Vector Arena for two days on June 11-12.

Te Tau Ihu (top of the South Island) is still yet to confirm their venue for March 19.
