Te Whānau Tahi is a combined group of Naenae College, Wainuiomata High School and Heretaunga College students who hail from Te Awakairangi/Wairarapa regions.
Founded in 1984 by John Manuel Snr and Hine Manuel, the group has competed at national level six times and is now tutored by former students.
The group is led by their kaitātaki wahine, Michaela Biddle (Ngāi Tūhoe, Ngāti Porou), and kaitātaki tāne Fruen Samoa (Te Ātiawa, Ngā Ruahinerangi, Ngati Ruanui).
This year, they celebrate their tenth anniversary.
The item they have chosen is dedicated to Reno Pourau, a close and dear friend of the students, who sadly passed away last year.
