Hato Pāora College's haka group, Parorangi is back on the national stage again for its ninth time representing Manawatu, Horowhenua and Ngāti Kauwhata.
Hato Pāora College is a Catholic Māori boys' boarding school which strives to promote the Māori language and culture.
The group was established in 1947 by Father Ihaka Kapuera at a time when there were very few educational institutes that promoted and encouraged the use of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.
The group is tutored by Hona Black and the kaitātaki tāne is Toronge Tepania-Ashton.
The Hato Pāora motto, "Whaia Te Tika", emphasises the college's aspirations Hato Pāora strives to take good boys and grow them into great young men - men of faith and action.
