Ngā Manu Mātui o Whangaroa based in Te Tai Tokerau combines the talent of students from TKKM o Whangaroa, Whangaroa College, Moerewa School, Te Kura o Te Pouherenga Tangata, TKKM o Taumārere and Te Kura Hourua o Whangarei.

The group is tutored by Mana Epiha, Maharanui Epiha and Erena Epiha.

Leading the group today is Te Waiarani Epiha as kaitātaki wahine, and Padre Brown as kaitātaki tāne.

Having only established in 2013, this year has been an exciting journey for the group's members as they make their debut on the national stage today.

Tutor, Mana Epiha says, "the group was established to honour those who have passed on, who fought hard for te reo me ōna tikanga."

Ngā Manu Mātui o Whangaroa’s whakaeke outlines the arrival of their waka and ancestors to Te Tai Tokerau.
