Ngāti Whakaue Pakeke were the first to take the stage at the Te Arawa Senior Kapa Haka Competition.
Many of the rōpū's members have grown up and lived in Ōhinemutu, and the wider Te Arawa region, all their lives, and are no strangers to performing.
They've come today to continue their support for the younger generation vying for a chance to advance to the Te Matatini Festival being held in Christchurch, something they've been doing for a number of years.
World Toastmaster Runner-Up, Kingi Biddle, led his kaumātua and kuia in a haka, as well as other iwi classics that had the crowd happily humming along.
