Te Korowai o Te Tai Tonga affiliates to Manurewa Marae in South Auckland and will take the Tāmaki Kapa Haka Regionals stage for the fourth time this year.
The group which was established in 2010 emphasises the importance of retaining their language and ensure the preservation of that tāonga for future generations.
The group is tutored by Haare Popata and will led by Kaitātaki Tane Tunuiarangi McLean and Kaitātaki Wahine Dorothy Popata.
The theme of the groups performance this year is dedicated to the 28th Māori Battallion and all war veterans who made the ultimate scarifice in foreign lands, it is also a tribute to those who kept the home fires burning waiting for their loved ones to return.
Te Korowai o Te Tai Tonga has selected their Waiata Tira to share this year composed by Tuiki Ngawai which is titled ‘E kiwi E Roha.’
