Tairāwhiti Tamararo Regionals 2016 - Hikurangi

Established in 1958, Hikurangi has a long and rich history in its rohe affiliating to Hikurangi maunga, the Waiapu river and the hapū of Te Aitanga a Mate, Te Whanau a Rakairoa and Te Aorewa.

Their marae are Whareponga, Hiruharama, Te Aorewa, Penu and Rongohaere and all marae of Te Pariha o Hikurangi.

The kapa abides by the Mission Statement “Whakarukea! Tū tonu maunga Hikurangi, tuohu ko ngā uri e.”

The group is tutored by Kuini Moehau Reedy, Selwyn Parata,Pele Takurua and Ngarimu Parata who doubles as kaitātaki tane, Avril Keelan stands alongside as kaitātaki wahine.

The group has chosen to share its Waiata ā Ringa ‘Kopututahi Nei’ composed by Kuini Moehau Reedy.
