Established in 2013 Te Aka Taarere hails from Ngaati Koroki-Kahukura Marae, Poohara and Maungatautari.

The kapa abides by the mission statement and values of “kaupapa ki raro, titiro ake” E rua ngaa Marae, Kotahi te iwi. He whakakotahi I te iwi ki raro I te maru Kotahi."

Tutored by Kiritahanga Muntz who is also the kaitātaki wahine (female leader) and Karepe Edwards as well as Sean Hamana the kaitātaki tane (male leader).

The group has chosen to share their whakaeke, Ko Ngaku Iwikau composed by Jesse Huriwai and Kiritahanga Muntz which shares the story of the Crowns deception over Karāpiro.
