Te Kapa Kuru Pounamu are first to take the stage at this year's Tainui Waka Kapa Haka Festival.
The group recently established themselves in October 2013, with members hailing from all corners of Aotearoa; this is also their debut at regional level.
They are affiliated to Te Kōhinga Mārama Marae based at the University of Waikato in Hamilton.
Te Kapa Kuru Pounamu's main objective is to encourage Waikato university students, as well Hamilton secondary school students, to develop their knowledge of the Māori language, its customs, haka and to support local events.
Stevie Awatere and Natalie Moetu are leading their rōpū this year.
