Ten schools will be competing in the Tainui Secondary Schools Kapa Haka Festival including national defending champions Te Wharekura o Rākaumanga.
Newly-established school Tai Wānanga will be the new faces at the Tainui regionals.
The school has been running since 2010, with students pushing for this haka group to be established.
The group is tutored by experienced Te Matatini performers from top groups Te Mātārae I Ōrehu, Te Iti Kahurangi and Tū Te Manawa Maurea.
The Tainui secondary schools regional competition takes place tomorrow in Hamilton at Claudelands Event Centre.
