Police will be out in force over the Easter period to ensure the safety of the many motorists on the roads.
With major traffic delays expected over the Easter weekend, the call for public to plan their travels in advance is being expressed.
Transport Agency’s Journey Manager, Lee Wright says, "If everyone plans their travel in advance, it will ease stress and reduce the need to hurry, making for a safer and more enjoyable journey."
The Easter weekend has seen traffic reduced to a crawl for several kilometres of Auckland's Northern Gateway toll road and past Pūhoi from about 10am in the morning, police urge caution during these conditions.
A friendly greeting this morning by Whangarei Police saw easter eggs dished out to motorists to promote safe driving over the weekend.
