Police recover body of missing freedom camper from Takaka River

Police have located the body of missing Takaka man James Rano Dick, known as Hemi.

The 45-year-old's body was recovered by the Police dive squad around 120 metres down the Takaka River from where he was last seen last Wednesday.

The body has been recovered and taken to Nelson.

Hemi was last seen at 3:30pm on Wednesday, November 23, swimming in waist-deep water by the crusher plant below the rapids in the Takaka River.

The death will be referred to the Coroner.
