A police investigation is underway following the death of an 8 year old boy in a highway crash at Tapapa.
According to police enquiries the incident occurred yesterday afternoon after a Toyota utility carrying the boy and his father broke down.
The boy’s father crossed the road to get water for the vehicle’s radiator and shortly after the young boy attempted to follow his father across the road.
A Toyota Corolla collided with the young boy as he attempted to cross, the driver of the vehicle was not injured.
The police have released the name of the boy who was killed, he was Thomas Evans from Auckland.
