Counties Manukau Police this afternoon identified the victim who jumped from a vehicle in Papatoetoe last night.
The victim is a 50-year-old Thai woman who resides in Auckland. The victim's immediate family have been informed and do not wish to be contacted by media.
The woman was restrained and gagged when she was located, after she jumped from a vehicle at the intersection of Huia and East Tamaki Roads at about 7pm.
Counties Manukau Crime Manager Detective Inspector Dave Lynch assured the public this morning that they are doing everything they can to locate the person or persons involved in the crime.
"We will be reviewing camera footage today, to see whether or not that can assist the investigation but we do only have a limited description of the vehicle silver vehicle with a spoiler on it."
Police say that if anyone has information, which can assist the investigation, to make contact with them.
The victim is at Middlemore Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
