Police have released the name of a motorcyclist who was killed near Te Kaha yesterday.

Detective Inspector Lew Warner the Bay of Plenty Field Crime Manager says 38 year old Don Henry Turei Junior and his brother had left a family wedding at Raukokore Church and were making their way to the reception when a white Honda Odyssey hit Mr Turei.

He says the van immediately left the scene of the crash and are appealing to the public for any sightings of the vehicle.

They are also calling for anyone who may have seen the vehicle in the area between 2-3pm to come forward.

They are asking for anyone who may have information which will assist the investigation to contact the Bay of Plenty Police.
