Some of the best cowboys in the country come together for the annual Ōpōtiki Rodeo.
Te Kāea followed a father son duo from Te Teko who've been competing together in this event for quite some time.
While it isn't a sport for everyone, both Minta and Kurtis Pryor benefit from the fruits the sport provides.
Kurtis Pryor says, “The horses and all that. The kids love it. Keeps them out mischief.”
They both come from a horse-riding family but have been participating in rodeo events for more than 10 years.
Minta Pryor says, "It's always good just to be with family cause Our first rodeo I had another partner. Kurt had another partner too but once we got together we kept the money on the truck."
Year in, year out, the Pryor family remain familiar faces not only at the event in Ōpōtiki, but also at Rodeos throughout the North Island.
The future is looking bright for the grandchildren of the whānau who are already keen to follow in their father and grandfather's footsteps.
