Middlemore Hospital's general surgical ward nurse Kaitlin Bruce (Mitha) returned to work a gold medallist this week, after eight months of living in the gym with head coach NZIFBB pro bodybuilder, Myra Rogers.

Bikini Novice Kaitlin Bruce of Auckland couldn't believe she came first last weekend in Hamilton. The 26-year-old from South Auckland graduated as a registered nurse in June, 2015. Sister Michal says Kaitlin's decision to becoming a nurse was inspired from their mother, Lyndall Mitha who has been a nurse at Auckland hospital with more than 35years experience.

Kaitlin was mentored by IFBB bikini Pro-Bodybuilder Myra Rogers, Rogers understands what it's like to stand on stage for the first time, she has just returned home from competition in the Mr Olympia. Michal adds Kaitlin's Kickboxing husband, Daniel Bruce of Smack Gym, South Auckland has played a key role in his wife's training.

Kaitlin was one of 142 athletes to compete, this is the largest number of competitors to take to the stage at Hamilton Boys High School. Kaitlin placed first in the Novice women's bikini short, she now has her sights set on the NZIFBB Pro/Am in March, 2017.
