The CEO of Ngāti Rangi says the contamination of Raetihi's water supply highlights the continued disregard from regional and district councils in not informing iwi about the situation.

Che Wilson of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rangi says that more needs to be done in opening the communication lines with central government and councils.

Locals continue to use water that has been trucked into Raetihi, however CEO of Ngati Rangi Che Wilson says that when the diesel spill happened, Turoa Ski field along with local council were slow in engaging with local Māori.

An interim water supply has been set up in Raetihi as the tap water will not be safe to drink until December.

Che Wilson urges a collective approach in dealing with this kind of situation and that Māori need to work alongside the local council.
