Four new commercials have been launched by Northland District Health Board this week, to assist in the prevention of Sudden Unexpected Death of an Infant (SUDI), as the region experiences one of the highest incident rates in the country.

It's not new advice but the high infant death statistics in the region indicate that advice is not being heeded.

The advertisements are aimed at young parents who smoke during and after pregnancy and sleep with their babies, it also urges the wider family to play a part in the care of their babies.

This is an important initiative that helps families take proper care of infants.
