The whānau of 15 year old Stephen Dudley, who died after being attacked by two young men at rugby training are angered his attackers have been discharged without conviction.

Last week the oldest of the pair appeared in Court for sentencing. He faced a maximum of 3 years in prison, but the 18 year old, who has name suppression walked away without conviction.

In her judgment Justice Winkelman compared the unprovoked attack on Stephen to a schoolyard fight, a statement that's upset his parents, Brent and Mona.

They join Mihingarangi Forbes in the studio along with Kelston intermediate school Principal Phil Gordon.
