Should he or should he not be allowed into the country to perform?

That's the question many have been debating since news broke of pop star Chris Brown's wishes to come down under. 

Brown pled guilty to assaulting and threating to kill his then girlfriend Rihanna 6 years ago. He was sentenced to 5 years’ probation and 6 months community labour. 

Many Rangatahi have high hopes the singer will be allowed to perform in Aotearoa, but critics say he should not be allowed to enter with his history of domestic violence.

Many high profile Māori have weighed in on the debate, two of which join me now in studio, Dame Tariana Turia, former co leader of the Māori Party, and soon to be Greens MP, Marama Davidson who was also the Chief Panellist on the Owen Glenn Inquiry into Domestic Violence and Child Abuse,
