There's a celebration happening in Moerewa, which sees those connected to the township come together under the banner of the town's streets to celebrate and compete against one another.

The festivities began on Friday with a fun filled day for the children and also a tribute night for the elders of Moerewa.

Yesterday saw the sports day competitions kick off for the adults where each street challenged one another in sports such as touch, netball, softball and top town.

It's a time to acknowledge and celebrate the work seen in this little settlement of Moerewa, which lies in the boundary of ancestress, Hineamaru.

Today is the final day of Motown Street Warz, which sees the kapa haka competition heat up and we'll find out which street will come out number one for this year.
