Keri Kaa's children's book Taka ki Rō Wai (Fell in the Water) is one of five finalists in the Māori Language category of the Library and Information Association of NZ Aotearoa Children's Book Awards.

The book is also a finalist in the illustrations and design category. It is the first book written in Māori to be a finalist in this category.

East Coast author Keri Kaa's book is about a pig called 'Turituri' who brought a foal to life in an underwater paddock.

Not only did she write the book in te reo, but in a dialect particular to the remote East Coast of Rangitukia.
