A special prayer service will be held for the Māori king before his kidney transplant operation next Wednesday.
King Tuheitia's private secretary Rangi Whakaruruhau told Te Kāea his tribal kaumātua will hold a public Pai Marire service on Sunday night at 7pm and again on Monday morning 7am at Tūrangawaewae Marae.
The 61-year-old king and his family will move to an Auckland residence on Sunday before he is admitted to hospital on Monday.
The Kāhui Kaumātua will be at the hospital on Tuesday night to hold prayers before the King’s operation on Wednesday.
The Kāhui Kaumatua are the king's advisors selected from Iwi around the country.
Mr Whakaruruhau confirmed King Tuheitia's youngest son Korotangi will be the donor.
"The operation was originally scheduled for December but due to his health status it was advised the operation be brought forward to Wednesday."
