Over the last 18 months, the Kai Collective has delivered around 19 tonnes of food donated by local businesses.

According to Kai Collective organiser Andrew Reygoud, “There are people out there that really want to help and don't know what to do with any excess.”

They work with about 70 other agencies who then pass the packages on to needy families from around the region.

The Collective provides food all year around, but this Christmas they have teamed up with another charity group called Christmas Cheer.

Food basics, Christmas goodies along with presents are all being hand-packaged and will be delivered to almost 500 families.

Everything is donated including transport, so it's a win-win for everyone, with businesses saving on disposal costs while those who are most vulnerable are able to feed their families.
