Hot NZ talent to compete in Raggamuffin Talent Search final

Twenty New Zealand reggae and urban bands will battle it out at the Raggamuffin talent search this Friday 11 December at the Ledge, Porirua.

The top 2 bands will have the opportunity to perform at the largest reggae and urban festival in the southern hemisphere, “Raggamuffin IX” which features legendary reggae band UB40, as well as The Game, Xzibit, Sly & Robbie with Bitty McLean, Macy Gray, Inner Circle, Maxi Priest and Savage.

With so much talent on display, the competition is getting heated.

Spokesman Danny Leaoasavaii says, “We’ve seen some fantastic talent come through the five heats and we are looking forward to an incredible night of great New Zealand reggae and urban music talent as we give these bands the chance to shine.

We’re looking for a slick sound, communication with the audience, and a band or musicians who are there to give people a good time.”

Judges "Tomorrow People" and urban music star Scribe as well as Brotha D (Danny Leaoasavaii) will be judging the contest and have the hard task of choosing one reggae and one urban act to take out the competition.

Each of the winning acts also receives $2500 as a cash prize.

The Raggamuffin Talent Search Finals are at The Ledge, Porirua on Friday 11 December from 8pm with $10 entry on the door.

Raggamuffin IX takes place at The Trusts Arena, Auckland on Saturday 20 February.
