MANA Movement leader Hone Harawira could face charges of careless driving after his car went down a cliff in Mangamuka last Thursday.
Harawira was travelling through the Mangamuka Gorge on Thursday night when the car left the road and rolled down a bank, ending up against a tree next to a river.
He says the area of the crash was isolated and he had to clamber up the cliff and hitchhike to a point where he was able to get cell phone reception to call his wife and let her know what had happened.
While he escaped serious injury, Police are investigating the incident and are considering charging him with careless driving
Harawira says he is annoyed with Police as he claims their response to this particular incident has been swift, however they are yet to find out or communicate with him effectively regarding the investigation into who shot at his office in Kaitaia over a month ago.
