Funding boost to improve housing

Building of new homes have started at Pūkaki Marae in Māngere, a joint project between mana whenua, Te Waiohua and Te Akitai hapū and Housing NZ. 

$377mil in the budget has been set aside for new and upgraded houses, three thirds of which will be built in Auckland.  Waiohua and Te Akitai are pleased to see their project taking shape, a long-held dream becoming a reality.

The joint partnership kicks off a long term goal of building housing for elders and family units on land at Pūkaki Marae.  Those involved have worked tirelessly on getting the programme up and running and it's hoped with this coming to fruition, that whānau health and life in general will improve.
