9 finalist kapa haka continue to battle it out for the top spot at Te Kura Wiwini, Te Kura Wawana Kapa Haka Competition in Gisborne.
The finalists are Kura Ki Uta (Ōpōtiki College), Te Wharekura o Hoani Waititi Marae, Ngā KKM o Te Puku o Te Ika a Māui, Te Rōpū Raukura, Te KKM o Te Rāwhitiroa, Taiohi Tātaki (Massey High School), Rītana (Lytton High School), Ngā Puna o Waiōrea (Western Springs College) and Te Wharekura o Rākaumangamanga.
Organisers of the competition say they are extremely happy with the event and are praising the quality of the performances from all the groups that participated throughout the week.
According to Arihia Stirling, Chair of the National Secondary Schools Kapa Haka, the turnout has been exceptional and the support for the groups is strong.
