Assisting the bereaved and those experiencing hardship during Christmas has been the focus of the Elim Church in Whangarei this weekend handing out food hampers and presents to many families in the district.
According to Lucian Davis, “it's about helping families who don't have money during the holidays or are experiencing hardship and can't buy food or presents for their kids. For me it's about sharing and helping those families in need and are having a difficult time.”
The hampers are also a way of acknowledging and giving back to those who actively support local families and initiatives in their local community.
This is an annual initiative for the Elim Church in Whangarei whether they're giving out hampers and Christmas presents or providing a substantial meal on Christmas day.
This year they are handing over 60 substantial hampers to families in the district this weekend.
This is the Elim Church's way of giving to those in need to celebrate the festive season and birth of Christ.
