Iron Thunder MC's third Annual Poker Run 2016 was held on 19th March, and our reporter Numia Ponika-Rangi headed out on the road with the 200 plus motorcycle convoy, on their fundraising ride.

This weekend, members of Auckland's Iron Thunder Motorcycle Club fired up their iron horses again and set off to distribute the funds collected from the Poker Run. The Auckland Spinal Unit and Rehabilitation Centre, in South Auckland was their first stop.

Centre spokesperson Jude Sprott who was presented with a cheque for $3,500 was overwhelmed saying, "We're so grateful for the hard work that the Iron Thunder Motorcycle Club have done, and these funds will go a long way in helping our patients who suffer from various forms of spinal injuries."

After a thrashing from the Spinal Unit's Wheelchair Basketball team the boy's donned helmets and fired up the motorcycles again and headed off to the home of Auckland's Westpac Rescue Helicopter Trust and handed over another $3,500 cheque.

Rescue helicopter crew member and spokesperson Leon Ford said, "This amount of money will actually cover the expenses for one entire rescue mission, which is a really huge cost, and they along with the people that they help are very thankful to the Iron Thunder Motorcycle Club for their support.”
