Tensions are running high in Ōpōtiki today, with another fight erupting in the town. Police have arrested seven people, one of whom has been taken to hospital.

Joe Collier was stabbed outside this address on Sunday night, after what police are calling a 'street brawl' broke out.

The Ōpōtiki community has rallied together after what some are calling a gang fight, but one community member says the town doesn't have a problem with gangs.

Police have appealed for the community to stay calm, but despite that, here on the streets of Ōpōtiki, no one was willing to comment for fear of gang retaliation.

A video has been published on social media in the hopes of strengthening the community.

A 34-year-old man, charged with the murder of Joe Collier, will appear in court tomorrow.
