For many New Zealanders the beauty of Christmas is about presents, food, and the comfort of family and friends.
As pleasing as that may sound, it’s not always the case for some whānau. However the Auckland City Mission is once again putting the Christmas Spirit back into the lives of the less fortunate.
This year the Auckland City Mission aims to provide:
- 3,000 Christmas emergency food parcels to enable families to celebrate Christmas at home.
- Distribute 7,000 presents to Auckland Children who would otherwise miss out.
- Host 2,000 guests at their Christmas Lunch.
- Gift 2,945 presents to community organisations to distribute to families they work with.
According to Auckland City Missioner, Diane Robertson, “These are the things that make up Christmas at the Mission and these are the things that touch all of us involved.”
The Auckland City Mission continues to maintain its desires in providing support for many struggling whānau that miss out.
“Christmas here is about sharing, remembering those we love and making a difference to the lives of others”, says Diane.
Last year the Auckland City Mission topped its goals and aims to provide an even better performance this year.
