New South Wales police have named the 38 year old hostage killed following a stand off this morning as Katrina Dawson a barrister and mother and 34 year old Tori Johnson the manager of the Lindt Cafe. The 50 year old gun man, Man Haron Monis is also dead.
Armed officers stormed the Lindt Chocolate Cafe in Martin Place, Sydney this morning after a stand off lasting more than 24 hours which began at 9:45 am yesterday morning.
Four people were injured and rushed to hospital
Police say there were around 17 hostages accounted for in total 2 of which were killed and five who escaped last night.
One officer was injured in the stand off after gun pallets hit his face however his injuries were not reported as life threatening.
Police say the premises are now secure and thorough investigation into the tragic matter is underway.
Members of the public have already started paying tribute to the hostages who lost their lives with flowers and notes near the area.
