Plaque to be erected at Rangiriri

The NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) is in the process of restoring a past tribal conflict.

In the 1960s, part of the famous Rangiriri Pā was confiscated and cleared in order to build the first State Highway, which created an uproar amongst the Waikato-Tainui people.

Now to help alleviate that grievance, plans are underway to erect a commemoration as part of the $105mil highway bypass at Rangiriri.
