Speaking only Maori in court Hone Harawira answered “kao” when asked if he pleaded guilty to the charges police laid against him for failing to move his vehicle. The Tai Tokerau MP and Mana Party leader used his car to block attempts by crews to remove one of the homes in Glen Innes which resulted in Police smashing his car window and arresting him at the scene. While other protestors became extremely agitated Harawira urged clam and left peacefully in a police paddy wagon. However following his release early the next morning he denied any wrongdoing and claimed that he was simply there to support the community as a recognised Member of Parliament.

Harawira has been scheduled to reappear in court on November the 8th.
