Australia Kapa Haka Festival - Tūranga Ake

Tūranga Ake, who debuted on the national stage in Canberra 2012, proved a force to be reckoned with by securing second overall in the competition and a spot on stage at Te Matatini 2013.

The group was established in 2008 and are based in the Brisbane area.

Although members hail from various iwi across Aotearoa, the group as a whole have a strong Tai Rāwhiti influence.

Tūranga Ake leader, Andre Ahipene previously told Te Kāea, "The No.1 goal for the entire team was to entertain the crowd and be a group worth watching."

It's clear today that through their hard work and determination that they have fulfilled that goal.

Their leaders and tutors are Andre (Dre) and Gaylene (Ngāti) Ahipene.

Here is their whakaeke, 'Te Urunga Tū.
