Māori MP could be next in line if Gilmore goes

This week, he was alleged to have misused his position as an MP by threatening hotel wait staff. He apologised yesterday, but it seems it might not be enough.

It's alleged that because wait staff wouldn't serve Gilmore alcohol at a hotel last week, the National MP threatened to have the waiter fired by going through the PM's office.

The Prime Minister today contacted the National Party President, Peter Goodfellow, to settle the issue. It could signal Gilmore's eventual resignation. If that happens, the next Māori MP is waiting in the wings.
