The battle for the leadership of the Māori Party is underway at Whangaehu Marae.
A debate is going on as Te Waiariki MP, Te Ururoa Flavell, has made his challenge for co-leadership of the party.
All this is happening as the current co-leader, Pita Sharples, continues to push the idea to merge the Māori Party with the Mana Party.
Māori Party members made their first public appearance since the public spat over the future of the leadership.
