Andrew Little is the new Leader of the Labour Party.
In a statement released today he said it is an immense privilege to have been chosen to lead the party and to be given the task of ensuring it once again becomes a powerful force that backs New Zealanders in getting ahead as a nation.
He says, "Labour is the party that has always been at the forefront of real and meaningful change that benefits all New Zealanders and that is the tradition I will honour as Leader."
Little was up against Hauraki-Waikato MP Nanaia Mahuta, David Parker and Grant Robertson.
After one of the worst election outcomes for Labour this year, former Leader David Cunliffe resigned, now former President of the Party, Andrew Little who has a long history with the trade unions will need to prove he has what it takes to improve the outlook for his party in the next election.
