Te Matatini 2015 supporters will flock back to Hagley Park this morning in anticipation of performances on Day 2 of the competition from groups in the Te Haumi Pool.
After an extremely successful first day of performances from the Te Ihu pool, the kapa preparing to take to the stage today got a glimpse of the high calibre groups they are up against.
The champions of the last Te Matatini Festival, Te Waka Huia took the stage yesterday, as well as many other experienced groups from across the country. A number of groups new to the Te Matataini stage also delivered some amazing performances.
Today’s groups begin at 8:45 with Ngāti Kahungunu ki Heretaunga, Ngā Uri o Te Whanoa, Hokianga and Te Reanga Morehu o Ratana.
Te Mātārae i Ōrehu will take the stage after the first morning break followed by Tūtara Kauika ki Rangataua, Tū Te Manawa Maurea and Te Whatukura.
Following the lunch break Ngā Purapura o Te Taihauāuru, Tūranga Ake, Kataore and Te Kapa Haka o Whāngārā Mai Tawhiti will showcase their talent.
Rounding off today’s performances will be Te Matapihi, Te Rōpū Manutaki and Ngā Tumanako.
Our online team will load individual items selected by each group throughout the day and the Te Kāea team broadcast live from Christchurch with presenter Piripi Taylor and our team of journalists based at the event throughout the week.
