Established in 1978, Te Roopu Kapa Haka o Te Whānau Tahi rose from humble beginnings to become one of the foremost kapa haka secondary school kapa haka groups in the lower North Island region.
The group will take the stage with kaitātaki wahine Whaiora Reihana-Kennedy and kaitātahi tane Te Teira Wairau-Juliana under the watchful eye of tutor Te Teira Davis.
The group’s performance will pay tribute to Te Awhiahua Toko, a past kapa haka student who tragically passed away this year. The group will also perform a haka about whanau violence.
This clip shows the group’s poi, entitled Ka Rere Taku Poi.
