Te Puea chairman Hurimoana Dennis has elected to face a trial by jury in his controversial kidnapping case as he faces court today.

The Dakota Pipeline protests at Standing Rock continue to escalate with mass arrests and confrontations between police and protesters.

And in sport, Allan Bunting, has been named the new Black Ferns Sevens Head Coach.  Bunting has held the assistant coach role to former Head Coach Sean Horan since 2012, and with the departure of Horan to pursue the Head Coach role for the All Blacks Sevens team, Bunting has now taken the head role.
