Iconic Māori singer of the 1970s Bunny Tekokiri Miha Wahi Walters has passed away aged 63. He died peacefully at Waikato Hospital this morning. Walters was best known for his hits Nearest thing to Heaven, Take the Money and Run and Brandy.  Read more here.

Famous children's book The Cat in the Hat has been translated into Māori. But missing macrons have some native speakers concerned about the quality of the reo.  We have more on this story this evening.  

And American R'n'B singer Mya is currently touring New Zealand and is performing in Wellington this evening.  Te Kāea will have an interview with the star this evening.
