24-year-old Michael Metuakore is amped as he prepares to take a big step in his career as a backup dancer for American Superstar Jennifer Lopez.
The talented young Tokoroa local of Cook Island and Māori descent auditioned for the spot along with 300 other male dancers and was one of the final seven selected.
He also featured in New Zealand’s first multi-million dollar dance film “Born to Dance.”
In pursuit of his dream Metuakore and his brother moved to Auckland to dance with world renowned choreographer Parris Goebel’s company, The Royal Family.
To find out more about this talented young dancer we sent our Online News team Kimi Kaire-Melbourne and Rewi Heke out to speak with him and they got an exclusive on-camera glimpse of his dance moves.
He also tells us what it was like to audition in LA with hundreds of other dancers in front of Jennifer Lopez herself.
And he sent a special thank you to all those involved in helping him get to where he is now, particularly Parris Goebel who is blazing a trail in choreography worldwide.
