Native Affairs: Summer Series - West Papua Part 2

By Native Affairs

West Papua has one of the most diverse indigenous populations on the planet, with its native population speaking over 275 different languages.

The province is tainted by allegations of Wide Spread Human Right's Abuses, and at the Pacific Islands forum last year, some Leaders called for a fact finding mission to West Papua.

This was not supported by New Zealand or Australia.

However Native Affairs producer and cameraman Adrian Stevanon along with journalist Karen Abplanalp travelled to West Papua to speak to the indigenous people about their lives.

It's the first time in 50 years a New Zealand television crew has been allowed into the province.  Here is part one of their special report. A warning some of the images in this story you may find disturbing.

Here's part two of this special report.
