Kieran Joblin is on a mission to become the best UFC fighter. The Tūhoe descendant recently took out this year's Carnage in the Cage (CITC) title. Now Joblin is preparing for the prestigious Xtreme Fighting Championships (XFC) in Australia.
He's the No.1 ranked Pro-lightweight out of 139 in Australasia.
Joblin says, “I've got a fight in seven weeks over in Brisbane. If I win that I get an Australian title and a contract in Japan. So my plan is to win that, win the two fights in Japan and then get into the UFC.”
Last month the Shuriken title holder took out his third consecutive CITC title. The next big step will be the XFC fight next month in Australia where he will be going up against Korea's No.7 ranked Sung Hwa Han.
“I've had about 25 fights now. So I'm pretty use to handling the nerves, always still get the butterflies and get scared so it's a good thing too cause if you don't get scared then somethings wrong. The guy I'm fighting, he's got a lot of experience. But beating him will be a good test,” says Jobin.
He has won 12 out of 14 fights in his professional MMA career to date. The soft spoken Warrior who is currently on a reo journey says his Tūhoetanga is a large motivator behind his MMA success.
“Fighting is sort of like the whole warrior thing aye, it sort of keeps you intact with it and stuff aye. So yeah it's definitely a fighting warrior all ties in well with it.”
Kieran will fight Hwa Han on the19th of November for a spot at the Pancrase MMA competition in Japan.
