The leader of Mana Party Hone Harawira is a travelling companion to the home nation of the late godfather of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, was the Tino Rangatiratanga flag.
The MP for Te Tai Tokerau and former leader of the Protest Patu Squad, who also played a role in the 1981 Stop the Springbok Rugby Tour, says he's travelling to South Africa to mourn for the Māori nation and those who fought against the South African apartheid regime many years ago.
The leader of the Stop the Springbok Tour, John Minto, will remain here in NZ, and when Mandela is buried on Sunday, he will organise another memorial for the giant of a man, where their protest movement stopped the Springbok game in Hamilton.
Many international delegates as well as John Key's delegation will arrive in Soweto tomorrow for Mandela's memorial service.
Harawira says he hasn't been formally invited there, but he will follow Mandela all the way to his final resting place in Qunu.
